E0 10010      August 21 1950

Owners: Ian Carlaw early 90s-1995.  Robin and Barbara Fairservice BC,Canada, 1995 to date.

Imported new to Vancover BC. History unknown till the car went into storage around 1958. Ian Cox brought the car in the early 90s with good intentions of restoring the car. Robin aquired the car in 1995 and has restored the car. According to the old factory records this Javelin was originally shipped from England on August 21, 1950 to their importer in Vancouver, GORDON W. BROWN a dealer at 1040 Alberni Street who imported  131 of them.

Ian Cox, now of Victoria, bought the Jowett in about 1990 from a George McMurray who had owned a business in Penticton called McMurray Tractor and Auto Sales. A letter from his son in 2009 wrote about this and supplied a couple of photos of it when his father owned it.  George had acquired the Jowett in part exchange for some agricultural equipment from someone from Naramata, probably in the early 1960’s.  The Naramata owner was probably Grant Edward Carlan an orchardist from Naramata who, according to the transfer papers for that transaction, acquired it from Fort Hope Garage in July 1958.  It is probable that it was his sons who took the engine out, and when Robin Fairservice acquired the car from Ian Cox in 1995, the engine (in pieces) and gearbox were in the trunk.  Ian Cox believed that that the Vancouver owner was a Doctor G. Gill, and his name was chalked on the spare tire. A letter from him to Ian Cox refers to him owning it and giving it in part exchange for another car at a garage in Hope when it suffered some mechanical malady but does not say when he bought it.
